PLR Projects entered Zambia through PLR Projects Zambia Limited, establishing the Ferro Alloy Plant in Pensulo Village — laying the foundation for the group's long-term presence in Zambia.
Feasibility studies, geotechnical surveys, flood studies, and environmental assessments conducted at Pensulo Village for the proposed solar power project. ZEMA environmental approvals obtained. Swarna Solar Ltd incorporated as a dedicated solar development entity.
Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) agreed with ZESCO. Grid Impact Study completed, GIS approvals obtained, IA agreements with the Ministry of Energy signed, and ERB approvals secured. All equipment orders placed and 551 hectares of land acquired at Pensulo Village.
Land cleared for 400 MW with balance clearing in progress. Construction activities commenced across the project site. 450 MW evacuation infrastructure at 330 kV to Pensulo substation and 20 MW at 66 kV to PLR substation progressing on schedule.
First 100 MW to be commissioned and connected to the ZESCO grid, delivering clean energy to Zambia and marking the first major milestone of the 470 MW project.
Additional 200 MW to be commissioned, bringing cumulative capacity to 300 MW and significantly strengthening Swarna Solar's contribution to Zambia's national energy grid.
Final 170 MW to be commissioned, completing the full 470 MW project and establishing Swarna Solar as one of the largest solar power producers in Zambia.
